Reading, Reading and a little more readiing
Reading is really a life long skill for all of us.
Reading to children is critical every day as it gives your child a successful start to life and learning.
Parents and carers who read aloud to their children every day provide a strong, positive influence and help develop a life-long love of reading.
There are a couple of things you can do to foster your child’s love of reading:
• Read aloud to young children every day, if only for a few minutes and let them hold the book and turn the pages or provide that quiet space for silent reading.
• Visit the library as a family and let your child select books that interest them from both non fiction and fiction sections.
* At school we provide an opportunity for student silent reading as well as having the teacher read aloud to the class to further model good reading skills.
