This Friday - June 13 - is the local show holiday.
There is no school on Friday with the school being closed.
Its that time of year - cool mornings become lovely warm days, and jumpers get left at school - on the oval, in the playground, in the eating area - just about anywhere!
Parents, we do try to return jumpers to their owners but you can help too.
Label your child's jumpers AND check in when you pick them up to see if the jumper is returnbing home too.
From tomorrow morning the jumpers will be left on the seat outside Admin - please claim your property.
Age Appropriate Pedagogies and Under 8's Day
Age -appropriate pedagogies
Our early childhood classes are working with a cluster of local schools to focus on Age-Appropriate pedagogies.
Last week, our teachers went to a workshop and learnt about the characteristic called Playful. This is an essential part of how children learn, connect, and grow. Play is not just fun; it’s a powerful driver of development. Through play, children explore ideas, solve problems, build relationships, and express themselves in creative and meaningful ways.
Whether it’s through imaginative role-play, hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, or playful inquiry, students across our schools are engaging in activities that nurture curiosity, confidence, and collaboration.
Research shows that playful learning helps improve memory, boost motivation, and support emotional well-being. It also creates a sense of joy and wonder.
By making space for play, we are creating classrooms where students feel safe to take risks, try new things, and develop a lifelong love of learning. We’re excited to see how this focus brings energy, creativity, and connection to our classrooms.
Under 8’s Day
Last week we celebrated Under 8’s week. Luckily, it was a sunny day as we held most of the activities outside. It was so great to see so many families and carers at this event.
Our Prep, Year one and two classes had so much fun getting their faces painted, getting groovy hair, making bubbles, making pasta necklaces and funny face biscuits. A highlight was the baby animals that came to visit plus our local fireman came with their fire truck.
Thank you to our wonderful teachers for organising this event and to the team from Helping Hands who organised a great messy play activity for our children. One of our local kindergartens joined us for the day and brought groups of their kindy kids.
Last week was Chappy Week.
a huge thank you to our Chappy Kyra who plays a very important role in supporting the wellbeing of our students, staff and families across our school community.
Chappy Krya greets us each morning (Monday, Thursday and Friday) and provides a beaut breakfast two times a week, as well as helps out with our museli bar and fruit drink programme each Monday.
She is always ready to lend a listening ear and to be that source of hope for students navigating life’s challenges.
Chappy Kyra works alongside teachers and support staff to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every student feels seen and cared for. Her impact goes beyond the classroom, touching lives in ways that often go unnoticed but are deeply felt.
We do encourage all students and families to take a moment to thank our Chaplain for being such a wonderful spport and role model for all.
Three cheers to Chappy Kyra for all she does!
Recently, some of our Year 5 students were invited to attend the most recent edition of "Bright Minds".
This is part of our transition programme to high school and all students are encouraged to apply.
"We learnt how to clone an African Violet plant. We sterilised Mung Bean seeds and put them into a non germ container with non-bacteria jelly, after cutting up the plant's leaf into tiny pieces and adding sterlised water."
"For saefty measures we had to wear apron, gloves, hairnet, safety glasses, masks and huge lab coats.:
"Fun fact: you can only clone living things!"
"In the Science Lab there was an emergency eye wash area and an emergency shower area."
"In our break time we made ninja stars with paddle pop sticks that exploded when the sticks hhit another surface."
"Later in the year there is another Bight Minds day called Little Chefs, we shall be applying for that too!"

As we approach the end of Semester we start to reflect on student progress across their learning areas.
We know that the best student results occur when home and school work together to support student learning and all parents should be regularly checking in with their child's teacher.
Across English, our Prep to Year 6 teachers are predicting we shall have over 80 - A & B's.
Across Mathematics, our Prep to Year 6 teachers are predicting we shall have over 110 - A & B's.
What a wonderfully high standard these students are setting.
