With the predicted wet weather arriving this morning we will be reminding all students to take extra care on two fronts as they move around our school:
1. do not run on the concrete so as to avoid any slip, trip or fall, and
2. when going home at the end of the day to slow down and make sure they follow correct road safety rules as they move to your car, the bus or walk/ride home.
Thank you to all parents for also being extra careful and very alert around our school crossings and road ways.
Congratulations to Talia, Maks, India, Ella, Matilda, Arianni and Macy who shall be attending the Bright Minds programme at Maroochydore State High School.
A wonderful opportunity to work on their writing skills with an author and English specialists from the MSHS as well as meeting new students from other feeder schools who will become classmates in the very near future.
Year 6 students transitioning to high school in 2026
On Tuesday afternoon our Year 6 students had a visit from students representatives and staff from Maroochydore State High School.
Our students were given the enrolment documents to take home and share with you.
Parents - do have a check in chat with your child and find out more and,
complete the enrolment forms and return to the Maroochydore State High School Office ASAP.
School Cross Country for 10 Year to 12 Year old students
Mark your calendars and be part of this special event!
For our 10 year old, 11 year old and 12 year old students join us for our school's Cross Country event on Friday, April 4th, from 8:35 AM to 9:05 AM. Together, let's make this an event to remember as we celebrate the spirit of athleticism and community that defines our school.
In the lead-up to this exciting day, Years 3-6 students have been sharpening their running skills during Physical Education lessons, preparing to take on the cross-country challenge. Many enthusiastic students have already signed up, demonstrating their commitment and determination.
If your child hasn’t yet nominated themselves—don’t worry! On the day of the event, students will still have the chance to self-nominate, ensuring everyone who wishes to participate can do so.
Thank you for your support—we look forward to seeing you there!
Brett Gripske
Physical Education Teacher
Story Dogs - Recent Free Dress Day
Thank you to all students who contributed to our fundraising efforts for the Story Dog programme.
A total of $176.80 was raised and will go towards supplying further reading books for the volunteers to read.
Who wouldn't want Rollo reading with them!
Tuckshop - thank you to our volunteers
A special thank you to Jo and her team of volunteers who each Friday do an amazing job prepping the food for our students.
It is always a busy time on a Friday morning in the tuckshop and the whole team do an amazing job in having all the orders ready for first break.
If you have a couple of hours to spare please pop in to the tuckshop on a Friday and chat to Jo. I know many hands make light work!
P&C News
On March 10 the Maroochydore State School P&C held their Annual General Meeting and began the process of electing a new committee to continue the supportive work done by previous P&C committees for our school community.
Lisa has again committed to the role of President and we, and I, are so lucky to have such a generous President who is so committed to this school and supporting all students here.
Congratulations to our Executive team for 2025:
President – Lisa Hinchcliffe
Secretary – tba
Treasurer – Erin Kelly
In the next newsletter the P&C will share some more fundraising ideas in which you could assist the committee with helping hands to make the ideas possible.
Anzac Day March - come and join us at the Maroochy RSL March
All families are encouraged to join Mrs Pool and I along with our School Leaders, for the ANZAC DAY March from the Maroochy RSL on Friday April 25.
In our 101st year we would love to have our biggest ever representation at the March which leaves the Maroochy RSL at 8:00am.
We'd love you to come along and meet us at the corner of Memorial Ave and George Street by 7:50am.
Following the March all families are welcome to attend the service as a family group.
Reading, Reading and a little more readiing
Reading is really a life long skill for all of us.
Reading to children is critical every day as it gives your child a successful start to life and learning.
Parents and carers who read aloud to their children every day provide a strong, positive influence and help develop a life-long love of reading.
There are a couple of things you can do to foster your child’s love of reading:
• Read aloud to young children every day, if only for a few minutes and let them hold the book and turn the pages or provide that quiet space for silent reading.
• Visit the library as a family and let your child select books that interest them from both non fiction and fiction sections.
* At school we provide an opportunity for student silent reading as well as having the teacher read aloud to the class to further model good reading skills.
