Thank You

A sincere thank you to all:

  • of our wonderful volunteers who are a very important part of our school community through their contribution each week to our students and in our classrooms
  • of our P&C executive who are tireless in their efforts to further enhance the school experience of all students and who are always helping out and contributing in so many ways
  • of our tuckshop helpers, along with Bronnie our Tuckshop Convenor, who provide a tuckshop experience for our students each Friday
  • our Religious Instruction teachers who visit our Year 1 to Year 6 classrooms for a semester across the school year.

We are all very lucky to have such keen and supportive volunteers across our school year level classes.

P&C Christmas Raffle

Thank you to all who returned their raffle tickets and money for Monday’s big draw with the funds going towards supporting our major long-term project for a new playground at the Mango Tree.

Congratulations to our major prize winner Olive, who I believe used her own pocket money to buy the ticket.

Instrumental Music Showcase

Congratulations to our amazing instrumental music students who put on a fantastic performance yesterday afternoon.

Terrific work MSS students!

It was very evident all of your hard work and practice has certainly paid off.

Special mention to our three students leaving the programme – India, Jack and Elijah, well done.

Closing in on the end of Term 4

The final weeks are now upon us and now is the rime to get swimming gear ready for Monday for our Prep to Year 5 students.

Togs, towel, sun shirt, sun cream, hair ties for longer hair, suitable footwear for the bus trip (thongs or sandals), a swimming cap (if required) and a suitable bag to put it all in. All students return to proper school uniform after they return to school from the pool.

Year 6 students your surf awareness starts Monday December 9.

Our class teachers are currently compiling your child’s evidence of assessment for Semester Two against the Australian Curriculum expectations to complete your child’s report card.

All Semester 2 report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday 11 December, so please make sure that you have your email address up to date with the office.

Our Prep to Year 3 classes are also working on the presentation of a Christmas song at our Talent Show on Monday December 9. This will be quite a step up for our younger students being on stage in front of an audience and having to sing quite loudly so we all can hear.

All parents are welcome to come along and we shall confirm the starting time via our School’s Facebook page as we narrow down the timing.

We are currently trying to plan classes for next year and ask parent to contact the Office if your child/ren will no longer be at MSS for the 2020 school year.

Mrs Blackburn has been working with a number of students in the art room over the last few weeks to complete a major art piece. A large-scale paper mache turtle will next week be delivered to the Queensland Museum Hatchery Crusaders competition as the MSS entry. What a great job our students and Mrs Blackburn have done.

Stationery Order News 2020

A hard copy of the order form has been sent home with details around how to order your child’s stationery requirements for 2020.

A link is also supplied here for your convenience:

Library Books / Class Readers

Could all parents please do another search of their child’s bedroom for those long-lost school library books or class readers that maybe a little buried! You’ll make Mrs Nugent’s and Mrs Coleman’s day be returning those left behind books.

Student Absences

Could you please ensure you reply to the text message sent when your child is absent with your name and reason for your child’s absence?

This will reduce our administration follow up time by not having to make another call to you.

2020 Prep Information Sessions

Our final Prep Transition Session for the year is on this Friday at 9am for an hour in the Prep Room.

If you haven’t confirmed your attendance please call the Office on 5475 155.

A reminder that all Prep students starting in 2020 must have a copy of their birth certificate provided to the Office before the start of school.

Positive Behaviour

Be nice.

At all times and to everyone!
