Prep to Year 5 Swimming and Year 6 Surf Awareness
Many thanks to the number of parents who have been able to promptly pay for their child’s swimming or surf awareness programme already.
Just a reminder to all parents to have this payment finalised by Monday November 25 at the close of the day so that final numbers and arrangements with the suppliers can be confirmed.
P&C Christmas Raffle
Each year, the P&C hold a Christmas raffle to raise money for the school. This year we are raising money for a new playground near the Mango Tree.
There are some great prizes lined up for the raffle. One of the raffle prizes will be a Christmas hamper.
We are asking you for a non-perishable donation to go towards the Christmas hamper prize.
We are grateful for any non-perishable donation within its used-by date. For example:
- dry goods like pasta
- jars or bottles of sauces
- tinned goods
- tea, coffee or other non-perishable drinks
- snacks, chocolates, muesli bars
- laundry powder, dishwashing liquid, soap, bandaids.
Donations can be dropped off at the school office.
The raffle will be drawn on November 25th of November. Tickets for the raffle will be coming home in the next few weeks.
Thank you for helping the P&C raise funds for the new playground.
Halloween Disco Prep to Year 4
Thursday October 31 in the School Music Room from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. $5 per student.
All Maroochydore SS students from Prep to Year 4 are invited to our yearly Halloween Disco.
Parents are to sign their child in on year level sign on sheets before their child enters the disco and then at 5:30pm come into the Music Room to collect their child.
Come dressed in your best Halloween costume or best dancing outfit and as you leave at 5pm grab a sausage and a drink to recharge with.

We are currently applying for ongoing funding for our Chaplaincy programme and I am keen to get your feedback to support what we do. Please contact the Office ASAP.

School Improvements
Recently we were notified of two major school projects that shall be completed across the term.
The School Hall shall receive a new flooring replacement and the Junior Boys toilets work on a new access and internal modifications has started.
Thank You – Day for Daniel
Thank you to all for joining in with last Friday’s Day for Daniel wearing red and gold coin donation. Our students and staff participated in a longer walk just inside the perimeter of the school and at one stage we had a lovely flowing red line of students from Prep all the way through to Year 6 and the students contributed over $175 on the day. A great job!
Recycling Trial
Mrs Pool and Mrs Bellamy are looking at some recycling initiatives with students putting their finished popper drink containers into collection bags. These are then taken to the recycling station to be added to the community recycling programme.
With a couple of recycling options around for schools we’d like to run a bit of a trial across the rest of Term 4 that parents may like to add to.
Each Monday and Tuesday morning could you please send in with your child any finished at home recyclable soft drink cans, soft drink bottles, sports drinks/iced teas and water bottles and place them in a recycling container in the forecourt area before school?
This will assist us in reflecting with the P&C to which way we go in 2020.
2020 Prep Information Sessions
Have you a Prep aged student, or your neighbour, starting in 2020?
Have you completed the required enrolment paperwork and left it at the Office? If you haven’t now is the time to do this as we are about to roll out the 2020 Prep Orientation programme.
We are ready to send out our welcome emails with further details and don’t want our school community to miss out!
For full details please contact the School Office so that we can email you.
Contact Details – Do we have your most up to date contact details?
There are times when we may need to contact parents and carers. Do we have your most up to date contact details? If not, please contact the school on 5475 1555 so we can update our records. These details include parent/carers’ name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details change.
Pikki Street Building Construction
Shortly, work will commence on the vacant block of land next door to the school in Pikki Street. Around safety for students, parents and staff, the gate access and access road for the teacher’s carpark will be closed off during the construction period.
Students and parents will be asked to access the school via the access pathway into the Prep and ECDP and to follow the path up to the primary school building areas. The reverse procedure will occur in the afternoon with students and parents exiting the school at the Prep and ECDP access gate.
The mango tree playgrounds will be closed, as will the one on the oval, with safety for all in mind around the construction period.
