Thursday September 19 – Tomorrow!
It’s finally here. The MSS School Colour Explosion Fun Run.
Tomorrow after from c. 1pm students and teachers will head over the overpass bridge across Maroochydore Rd to our large oval fun obstacle course.
We shall start the event with our Year 6 students, girls then boys, heading off to complete the obstacle course. Then the Year 5 students will start and working our way through to the Prep students.
There are a variety of obstacles including a water jump and the colour powder station.
Students are encouraged to participate through running or walking the course, chatting to friends along the way, and they may elect to ‘miss’ an obstacle. As it is an obstacle course the design is on a fun participation event and is not an official race.
A huge thank you to the parents who have already donated money through the Office to the P&C.
A $5 donation from all students will be greatly received by the P&C. This is a major fundraising event for the P&C with the funds beginning to be put aside for a new playground.
All students are encouraged to wear a plain white t-shirt or a very pale coloured top to enhance the spectacle of the colour powder.
Students are also encouraged to bring a set of clothes to change into, including shoes and a towel, as it is highly possible they will be a bit wet at the end of the obstacle course.
Thank You
A sincere thank you to Mrs Delma Perriman for her service at Maroochydore State School over the last 6 years. She has now officially resigned from her education career as an Office Administrator.
Delma was a wonderful assistance for all staff and students at our school and she ensured our finances and practices were exemplary.
Delma was always multi-tasking and constantly interrupted by both Jacqui and I yet she continued to smile and provide wonderful service to all.
Term 4
On behalf of all Maroochydore State School staff we wish all school families a safe and healthy holiday period and we look forward to seeing everyone again for the start of Term 4 on Tuesday October 8.
Term 4 will be highlighted by the swimming programme for Prep to Year 5 students, the annual talent show (parents if you have musical talent could you please also let me know as I have an idea I would like to try), the Surf Awareness course for Year 6 at Mooloolaba Beach and the end of Year Night for Year 6 students.
NB we are still finalising the costings for swimming and surfing and will get these to you as soon as we can.
Contact Details – Do we have your most up to date contact details?
There are times when we may need to contact parents and carers. Do we have your most up to date contact details? If not, please contact the school on 5475 1555 so we can update our records. These details include parent/carers’ name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details change.
Pikki Street Building Construction
Shortly, work will commence on the vacant block of land next door to the school in Pikki Street. Around safety for students, parents and staff, the gate access and access road for the teacher’s carpark will be closed off during the construction period.
Students and parents will be asked to access the school via the access pathway into the Prep and ECDP and to follow the path up to the primary school building areas. The reverse procedure will occur in the afternoon with students and parents exiting the school at the Prep and ECDP access gate.
The mango tree playgrounds will be closed, as will the one on the oval, with safety for all in mind around the construction period.

Student Absence
Parents, can you please contact the school (54751555) immediately if your child is absent?
This will reduce the number of text messages we then send out and have to chase up when parents do not reply. Thank you for your assistance with this routine.
