Seagulls (Blue) Vs Swans (Red)
Our annual school Athletics Carnival is on this coming Monday, June 13, on our school oval.
All students are encouraged to wear their house colour and be an active participant across the day. Brightly and creatively themed, blue or red coloured, students will enhance the house atmosphere across the day. Don’t forget your hat and a water bottle!
We welcome all parents to come along and support their child/children and their friends and please let Mr Chamberlain, our Phys Ed, teacher know if you would like to assist at an event.
The P&C through the tuckshop will be hosting a Sausage Sizzle and this will be available for the students at the main break. More details are in the P&C section.
Seagulls – Blue
Swans – Red
We are planning to start the day with an all age relay before moving to event specific activities. The girls will commence with sprints, running, and the boys will rotate through the field events to complete the first session.
For the second session the girls will move to the rotation field events and the boys will compete in their sprint races.
After the second session is complete the P-3 students shall be returning to the classrooms having completed their programme of running and field events. If you are then taking your child home please advise your child’s teacher before leaving school. The students in Year 4 to 6 will finish the day off with some relay events.
The times are an approximate time and events will start when competitors and officials are ready.
Just a reminder to all in attendance to be very aware of the events going on around you and not wander onto the track or into the path of a field event.

Student Excellence
Yesterday morning a senior student found a wallet close to school and handed it in to the Office. A very happy owner was re-united with his wallet later in the day and spoke glowingly of the student who was so responsible. Outstanding work Bryce and well done!

MSS Instrumental Band
Congratulations and well done to all of our instrumental students who performed at Chancellor College last week as part of the Fanfare concert. I was delighted to be a part of the audience and hear the tremendous improvement being made by all the students since their first tentative notes earlier in the year. Special thank you to Mr Buckley who has also worked hard with the students in their practices and rehearsals.
2016 Premier’s Reading Challenge
All Maroochydore State School students have been registered for this year’s Premier’s reading challenge. Every student who completes the challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier. These will be presented on parade in November.
For more information about the Premier’s Reading Challenge, please visit:
http://education.qld.gov.au/schools/readingchallenge/
Some classes will complete their reading records at school and some will send them home. Please check with your child which option their teacher has chosen.
You can play a big part in your children’s future by encouraging them to be part of this positive initiative.
We look forward to seeing as many of our students as possible embrace the 2016 Premier’s Reading Challenge.
