4 School ‘Bee’ Rules
Be Safe
Be a Learner
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Each week at our Parade we outline a rule of the week, which is reinforced across the week in your child’s classroom so as to promote a safe and supportive school learning environment.
Fire and Evacuation Drill
Last Thursday we conducted our first emergency drill of the new school year. Our fire and evacuation drill requires us to move in our class groups to the far side of the oval and to ensure all students and staff are accounted for and well away from any potential incident. As we practice these drills staff talk to the students about their safety and this enables students to become familiar and prepared. If you are a parent or volunteer on our school site during an emergency drill we ask you to follow staff directions and to also move towards the far side of the oval.
Parent Teacher Interviews
From next week we shall be conducting parent teacher interviews with all parents. These interviews are an important opportunity for parents to discuss the way their child has settled into the new school year and to see samples of their numeracy and writing skills. This will enable new goals and actions to be set and to further challenge and support your child’s learning.
For our younger students we shall commence these interviews from March 7 as their new classes have only started this week.
Student Absences
We have a student attendance target of 95% for this school year.
If your child only attends for 90% of the school year they have effectively missed 4 weeks of teaching and learning activities.
This is a significant amount of time and is your child then getting the most out of their education? Every day counts.
If your child is absent from school are parents are asked to contact the Office and let us know of their absence. Our School Office contact number is 5475 1555. Please keep this number handy.
District Sport Trials
If your child plays in a local competition and is highly skilled in one of the following sports please see our PE Teacher Mr Chamberlain for details around participating in the upcoming District Sport trials across March.
Girls and Boys – Hockey, Basketball, Soccer Touch
Football.
Netball – girls, rugby league – boys.
