District Swimming - three cheers
Last Friday, India (Yr 5CG) proudly represented Maroochydore State School at the Nambour District Swimming Trials, held at the Sunshine Coast Grammar Aquatic Centre.
Competing against talented swimmers from 21 other schools in our district, India showcased her dedication, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event. She took on the challenge of the 50m butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle, giving her absolute best in every race.
We are incredibly proud of India for her outstanding effort and for representing our school with pride.
Congratulations on a fantastic achievement—well done, India!

The NAPLAN 2025 test window is 9 days from Wednesday 12 March 2025 to Monday 24 March 2025
With the exception of the Year 3 writing task we do use our school iPads to complete the NAPLAN test online.
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school. On its own, NAPLAN is not a test that can be studied for, and students are not expected to do so.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. However, students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers. Visit the parents and carers page on the NAP website and download a copy of the NAPLAN information brochure for parents and carers.
Visit the public demonstration site page to see the format of the tests. This is the third year NAPLAN will be held in March, having previously taken place in May.
This change was made so school systems would have access to results earlier in the school year and can use them to inform teaching and learning plans for the remainder of the year.
Why NAPLAN is conducted online
• NAPLAN transitioned from a paper-based to an online assessment from 2018 to 2022.
• NAPLAN online provides a better assessment and more precise results.
• One of the main benefits of NAPLAN online is that it uses tailored (or adaptive) testing. This means that students receive questions better suited to their abilities, so they can show what they know and can do.
• Online testing allows ACARA to provide a wide range of accessibility options to support students with disability to access NAPLAN.
• Feedback from students is that they find the online test more engaging.
March 14 marks an extremely nerdy day on the calendar. (Particularly written in the American format 3/14).
It is the official celebration of Pi - π, the magical, mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.
For any circle you can imagine, if you divide the distance around a circle by the distance across it, you will get pi or π or

Last year we had a number of students who excelled with their large recall of the numbers of pi.
All families are encouraged to join Mrs Pool and I along with our School Leaders, for the ANZAC DAY March from the Maroochy RSL on Friday April 25.
In our 101st year we would love to have our biggest ever representation at the March which leaves the Maroochy RSL at 8:00am.
We'd love you to come along and meet us at the corner of Memorial Ave and George Street by 7:50am.
Following the March all families are welcome to attend the service as a family group.
